Message from the President

The global and regional landscapes are changing very rapidly due to the aftermath of the pandemic, geopolitical uncertainties, and financial crises. In this transformative era, digital technologies play a crucial role in driving economic and societal changes. The emergence of new entrepreneurs and innovation is essential for fostering a sustainable and circular economy that positions ASEAN and East Asia as the epicentre of the global economy.

ERIA has established itself as a credible policy think-tank over the past 15 years since its inception in 2008, serving ASEAN and East Asia. Our wide range of activities encompasses crucial areas such as trade and investment, energy security, climate change, environment, digital economy, innovation, entrepreneurship, food security, and healthcare.

Aligned with our motto, 'Building a Sustainable Future, Together: Embracing Inclusivity for All,' ERIA will continuously update its research activities to remain relevant in the face of global and regional dynamics. We are committed to adapting, evolving, and ensuring that our endeavours are mission-oriented, future-proof, and ready to provide solutions to emerging issues.

In September, we will inaugurate a new centre, the ERIA Digital Innovation and Sustainable Economy Centre (E-DISC). E-DISC aims to provide evidence-based policy analyses and recommendations on topics such as digital supply chains and data governance. It will also serve as an open innovation platform, fostering collaboration amongst startups, businesses, academia, and policymakers. E-DISC will also contribute to ASEAN's initiatives, including the Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA).

Under my Presidency, ERIA will continue to make significant contributions to the advancement and betterment of the region. Our goal is to establish ERIA as one of the most respected international organisations, renowned at both regional and global levels. To achieve this, I will focus on cultivating trust in our organisation, strengthening our ability to deliver effective policy recommendations, and engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders, including political leaders, business leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, investors, and civil society.
