The AZEC Policy Insight Report 2026 responds to a changing energy security landscape following the disruption in the Strait of Hormuz, which exposed structural vulnerabilities in ASEAN’s energy systems. Reaffirming AZEC’s ‘triple breakthrough’ agenda and ‘One Goal, Various Pathways’ principle, the report moves from analysis towards implementation, building on recent studies conducted by ERIA. It sets out three priority areas: Infrastructure and Energy System Resilience (ASEAN Power Grid, Critical Minerals); Diversifying and Decarbonising the Energy Mix (Clean Coal Technologies, Gas/LNG, Biofuels, Hydrogen and Ammonia); and Transition Finance and Market Mechanisms (Transition Finance, Carbon Markets). Together, these priorities aim to help AZEC build a more secure, resilient, and sustainable energy future for the region.
