Jakarta, 3 July 2026: ERIA successfully organised the third meeting of the Study for Strengthening Food Security in Indonesia: Development of Sustainable, Resilient, and Inclusive Agricultural Supply Chains on 3 July 2026, following the previous session held on 23 June 2026.

This series of virtual meetings serves as a platform for consultation, knowledge exchange, and progress updates, enabling study team members to present their latest findings and discuss key issues.

The third meeting brought together experts from the Indonesian Agricultural Research Alliance (APPERTANI), the Indonesian Center for Agricultural Socio-Economics and Policy Studies (ICASEPS), the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), the Institute for the Development of Agricultural Cooperation in Asia (IDACA), and the Central Union of Agricultural Cooperatives (JA-Zenchu) to exchange knowledge and expertise.

Participants focused on the role of agricultural co-operatives in strengthening agricultural supply chains. Discussions covered key elements of successful co-operative development, including the establishment of co-operative federations, co-operative autonomy, enabling government policies, financial sustainability, and the management of agricultural inputs such as fertilisers.

Drawing on Japan's experience, experts from JA-Zenchu and IDACA shared best practices and practical insights into the role of agricultural co-operatives in strengthening supply chain systems. Their contributions fostered collaborative, interdisciplinary discussions that enriched the study and helped shape evidence-based policy recommendations for enhancing Indonesia's food security.

ERIA plans to convene the next meeting with a focus on the fertiliser supply chain, which has recently emerged as a key policy issue owing to ongoing supply chain disruptions.
