
ERIA, UNDP, and PLN Launch Transition Finance Framework Initiative to Support Indonesia’s Energy Transition
Jakarta, 22 May 2026: ERIA, UNDP Indonesia, and PT PLN officially launched the development of PLN’s Transition Finance Framework through the ‘Roundtable on Transition Finance and Kick-Off PLN’s Transition Finance Framework Development, ’ held at PT PLN Headquarters in Jakarta.
The initiative aims to develop a Transition Finance Framework that defines eligible transition activities, decarbonisation pathways, performance indicators, and targets, while aligning with international transition finance principles and Indonesia’s sustainable finance ecosystem. The roundtable discussion was convened to support PLN in strengthening access to transition-aligned financing and enhancing its credibility amongst investors and stakeholders.
The event opened with remarks from Maya Rani Puspita, Executive Vice President of Corporate Finance at PT PLN; Sujala Pant, Deputy Resident Representative of UNDP Indonesia; and Han Phoumin, Senior Energy Economist at ERIA.
In his remarks, Han Phoumin reaffirmed ERIA’s commitment to supporting the development of the framework by helping ensure that it reflects international expectations and credibility principles, while also taking into account Indonesia’s national priorities, energy transition pathway, and the broader realities of ASEAN’s evolving energy landscape.
The kick-off ceremony was followed by a moderated panel discussion featuring representatives from PLN, OJK, DNV, and Mizuho Indonesia. The discussion provided practical insights and stakeholder perspectives to support the framework development process and strengthen collaboration amongst key actors involved in Indonesia’s energy transition financing ecosystem.
