Kuala Lumpur, 17 October 2025: ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe met with H.E. Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Minister of Defence II of Brunei Darussalam, on the sidelines of the ASEAN Energy Meetings.

The discussion underscored Brunei Darussalam’s appreciation for ERIA’s continued support in advancing regional efforts on climate change, energy transition, and sustainable development.

Both sides exchanged views on ongoing collaboration, particularly in carbon market development and hydrogen energy, and noted opportunities to deepen co-operation in support of ASEAN’s shared sustainability goals.
