Kuala Lumpur, 15 October 2025: ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe met with H.E. Sharon Garin, Secretary of Energy of the Philippines, on the sidelines of the ASEAN Energy Meetings to discuss ongoing and future collaboration in the energy sector.

The meeting reaffirmed the strong partnership between ERIA and the Philippines in advancing regional energy co-operation and supporting the transition toward sustainable, inclusive, and secure energy systems.

President Watanabe reiterated ERIA’s readiness to support the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairmanship in 2026 and highlighted joint efforts to expand sustainable energy access in island and off-grid areas. Secretary Garin welcomed continued co-operation with ERIA and expressed interest in exploring new initiatives that contribute to regional energy security and the energy transition.
