Asia Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage Network Activities
Project Overview
The Asia CCUS Network (ACN) was established in 2021 at the 14th East Asia Summit Energy Ministerial Meeting (EAS EMM) to promote CCUS and carbon recycling. Its aim is to support decarbonisation, economic recovery, and growth by fostering partnerships for knowledge and experience sharing, as well as joint research activities across the EAS region.
The main activities of ACN include hosting the annual Asia CCUS Network Forum, facilitating knowledge-sharing sessions, and conducting research studies. The ACN Forum brings together experts from ACN members and around the world to discuss pressing issues and recent developments in CCUS, helping to build understanding and capacity for deployment in the region. The first three forums were held in Japan, followed by the fourth in Bangkok in 2024. The 5th CAN Forum took place in Jakarta on 10–11 September 2025, with a special focus on cross-border CCS, including the development of cross-border projects and carbon recycling.
To date, the ACN Secretariat has conducted 22 knowledge-sharing sessions covering diverse topics such as regulatory frameworks, public acceptance, financing, and technical aspects. It has also completed eight research studies — six of which have been published, while the remaining two are in their final stages of completion.
