Critical Minerals Supply Chains Security and Resiliency in the ASEAN, Vol. 1

Critical Minerals Supply Chains Security and Resiliency in the ASEAN, Vol. 1

Project Overview

This study integrates microeconomic theories of resource pricing with industrial organisation perspectives on market structure, conduct, performance, and vertical integration to analyse the dynamics of critical mineral supply chains. Ensuring secure and sustainable supply requires an understanding of both the economic and environmental impacts of mineral exploration and use. To this end, the book examines key themes such as trade risks, investment promotion, policy uncertainty, green growth, and supply chain ethics.

It also addresses global systemic risks, including contagion, downside linkages, and geopolitical tensions, offering lessons in risk management and resilience building. Country-specific and regional case studies, particularly from ASEAN, China, Japan, and Australia, highlight economic, financial, and policy dimensions, supported by rigorous empirical analysis, including econometric modelling where relevant.

By linking theory with practice, the study provides robust policy recommendations for strengthening critical mineral supply chains. It is especially relevant for ASEAN’s carbon-neutral agenda and the broader challenges of sustainable global development
