Green and Transition Finance

The AZE-Center continues to advance work on Green and Transition Finance, serving as both a knowledge hub and a facilitator of regional collaboration. Our initiatives include projects to enhance green digital finance in Cambodia, research on the bifocal implementation of energy transition projects, and the development of the Technology List and Perspectives for Transition Finance in Asia.

In addition, ERIA is undertaking the role of secretariat for the Asia Transition Finance Study Group (ATF SG), conducting assessments of the impacts and interlinkages of ESG investments on the low-carbon economic transition in ASEAN, and carrying out research on green finance and energy transition in the region.

Complementary efforts are also under way through the development of investment and financing scenarios for all fuels and technologies under carbon neutrality, and the ADB—METI—ERIA joint paper Decarbonising Southeast Asia's Hard-to-abate and High-emitting Sectors: Transition Finance, Technologies, and Policy Approaches.

These initiatives aim to provide practical tools, evidence-based analysis and frameworks, and region-specific guidelines to accelerate the flow of finance towards low-carbon pathways. Together, they enhance financial institutions' capacity to assess transition technologies, promote innovative financing approaches such as blended and digital finance, and align capital flows with long-term decarbonisation strategies.
